Guntur Girl becomes Boy at '17' after 'corrective' surgery

After the doctors declared I was a boy, I am moving about freely. As soon as my name is changed in the certificate, I'll appear for Eamcet -- Veeranki Syam

girl turns boy guntur, strange case guntur, manchikalapudi guntur district, shyamala shyam guntur, girl becomes boy guntur, girl became boy, 17 years girl becomes boy, earanki ganapathi rao kirishna kumari, shyamala becomes shyamA 17-year-old girl turned out to be a boy at Manchikalapudi village of Duggirala mandal in Guntur district. The girl’s parents got worried when their daughter did not mature even at the age of 17. So they approached a super-specialty hospital, where the doctors informed them that she was not a girl, but a boy whose testicles were inside his body. After an operation, the hidden organs were brought out and Ms Syamala became Mr Syam.
She is the second daughter of agricultural workers Veeranki Ganapathi Rao and Krishna Veni, who had two daughters.
Once clad in salwars, she has now started wearing jeans. Her parents are only too pleased to have been unexpectedly ‘blessed’ with a grown-up son, who, when he was a girl, scored 546 marks in SSC and 932 marks in the Intermediate exam.
Now ‘he’ wants his name changed in the certificates and his current goal is to appear for Eamcet to get a seat in an engineering college. To change a name in the certificates, the medical and health departments have to certify that he’s a male, following which he will have to apply to the SSC and Intermediate boards for a change of name. Then, he will appear for Eamcet to get a seat as a male. The district medical and health officer Dr T. Gopi Naik said, “An andrologist will conduct tests to determine his or her sex.” He
says the situation is an unusual one. “One in one lakh will be in such a situation. This was the first case which came to my notice in the district.” He added, “Nobody else has applied for a sex determination examination. Andrologists are present in NIMS, Osmania hospital in Hyderabad.” The girl’s father Veeranki Ganapathi Rao said he was happy his daughter had become a son. “Now I am making the rounds to the DMHO’s house and to the collector to certify that my daughter is a male. Though I had a doubt several times about her behaviour, her mother failed to notice anything. After conducting tests, the doctors declared she was a boy.” The girl-turned-boy Veeranki Syam said, “After the doctors declared I was a boy, I am moving about freely. Now I want to become an engineer. As soon as my name is changed in the certificates, I will appear for the Eamcet examination.”
