In a significant development, the state government has decided to post college-wise Intermediate examination results on the Board of Intermediate Education website from this year.
The move is an effort to check trumped-up claims about the results of students made by corporate and private junior colleges across the state.
Plans are afoot to extend the facility to schools to enable parents to know school-wise SSC results.
There was no provision till now for the public to know the results of each college and verify which institutions the toppers are from, or whether a particular college has secured 100 per cent result. The parents of students have no option but to rely on publicity and
media advertisements issued by the college managements. By posting the results of each college on the website, the government hopes that the public could make correct decisions during the admission season.
Mr K. Parthasarathi, minister for secondary education, explained: “We
have seen an unhealthy competition among corporate and private junior colleges over the last few years. The college managements falsely claim that their students achieved top ranks, and also publicise about achieving 100 per cent results to attract more applications.“ Narayana, Chaitanya students top Students of Sri Chaitanya and Narayana Groups topped the state in Intermediate first year, emerging toppers in MPC and BiPC streams respectively. Fans of Pawan Kalyan and Jr NTR clashed in the hostel during the Gabbar Singh's audio release.They were stopped by the warden
One Town police registered a case against 25 students of NRI college, Gollapudi, for allegedly detaining the hostel warden in his room and threatening to kill him.
According to One Town police, the students had been nursing a grudge against the hostel warden, Kodali Gangadhar, because he had prevented them from misbehaving during the audio release functions held on the college premises. The students, fans of Pawan Kalyan and Junior NTR, clashed in the hostel on Saturday night during
the audio release of Pawan Kalyan's film Gabbar Singh. Fans of Pawan Kalyan were celebrating the occasion when events took an ugly turn. Hostel warden Gangadhar tried to stop them, which enraged the students, and they decided to take the law into their hands. The two warring groups -one group being fans of Junior NTR and other being fans of Pawan Kalyan -buried the hatchet and joined hands to take revenge on Gangadhar who had complained to the college management about the students on an earlier occasion. On Saturday, night the students attacked Gangadhar’s room. Shocked by the attack, the warden called the police control room and sought immediate help. Meanwhile, the angry mob of students burned some papers and threw it into the warden’s room.
The police reached the college before any untoward incident could happen and rescued the warden and took 25 students into custody. The students were produced before the magistrate on Sunday. They were released after they obtained bail.
The students are all believed to be minors.
Intermediate results are likely to be released on April 20 or 21 if the valuation process goes on smoothly and as planned.

The examination process that started on March 2 ended on Wednesday. The practical examinations were conducted from February 3 to 25. The BIE Secretary, M. Subrahmanyam, said that valuation of the scripts was on. This year 1,11,48,726 scripts will be valued, an increase of four per cent from last year. Despite the high number of scripts, Mr. Subrahmanyam is confident that the process will be completed as per schedule.
The valuations of answer books commenced from March 9 and will be conducted in five spells at 25 different spot valuation camps including two additional camps at Hyderabad and Vijayawada. Mr. Subrahmanyam said there is no shortage of examiners and strict measures have been taken to ensure that only 30 scripts were given per day to each examiner - 15 scripts in the forenoon session and 15 scripts in the afternoon.
The number of scripts to be scrutinised by each scrutiniser will be 150 per day.
