Now that the academic year is coming to an end, the students who are passing out of various educational institutions are busy applying either for higher education or those who have completed their post graduation are on the hunt for jobs. On the other hand, the prospective employers have also began their rounds to various campuses and are coming up with their recruitment drives to fill the slots of their organization. However, an interesting trend seems to be emerging on this front.

Reports are coming from the placement cells of various colleges and universities that there has been an increase in demand for students from humanities and social sciences. While the regular bunch of IT and financial companies are going for the technical graduates, it is heard that there has been an increase in the number of media organizations from both print and electronic divisions. Another interesting bit is that even students who hail from Hindi (Hons) background are also being taken.

Incidentally, there has been a big boost in the entertainment and media industry and the analysts are quoting that this industry has the potential to grow in the next two decades to a bigger size. So, the companies are already going in for freshers so that they can be groomed and made ready for the years to come. Of course, this doesn't come so easily. A certain level of talent and aptitude is mandatory to impress the interviewers. It is heard that subject knowledge and real-time scenarios are being discussed a lot during interviews.

The experts are suggesting that students must look to taking up post graduate programs in humanities and also work on joining some specialized courses. The demand for this stream will be there for a while so if the students are better qualified they can start off with a better package and growth will be quicker. Cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai are showing good growth of hiring and the employers are looking at visiting the two-tier cities if their quota is not complete. For now, the field of Humanities and Social Sciences seems to have picked up big time.
