CONDITIONS FOR APPLYING FOR A VISA

As a visa applicant, the student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • An offer of Acceptance – Before a student can apply for a student visa, a valid offer letter from a CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) registered Australian institution is required.

  • English Proficiency – An IELTS score is mandatory requirement and evidence of this must be included at the time of application for the student visa. The TOEFL exam is not accepted.

  • Financial Capacity – Student visas are granted when the students prove that they have adequate funds to support themselves in Australia, pay for their tuition fees and support the dependant family members included in the visa.

  • Work Permit Rules – As a student in Australia, you will only have a limited working permit on the visa. Therefore adequate funding to pay for living expenses and tuition fees are important and the documents must be evidenced/submitted to gain the visa. If a student takes time off from study to work, they will fall below full-time study levels, exceed their work allowance on the visa, or may fail academically. Any of these things can lead to visa cancellation.

  • Bonafides – The student needs to submit their past academic records and certificates for verification as well as a statement of purpose (SOP) for undertaking the desired course.

  • Health Insurance – The Australian National Health System is not available to overseas students, they must have the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) while in Australia.

  • Non-Immigrant Intent – The students must leave Australia before their visa expires.

  • Good Character – Other requirements are that the student must be genuine, have good health, and have good character without any criminal record.

STUDENT VISA REQUIREMENTS
In order to get a student visa, the student must satisfy the norms of the visa requirements and the list of student visa rules and regulations will specifically apply to that student. It is important to comply with that visa conditions for a student to avoid visa cancellation.

FEES AND CHARGES
A visa application charge for a student is around $565 AUD. A normal non-refundable application charge applies to most visa applications, with the exception of secondary exchange students and the students sponsored under Commonwealth approved programs.

In addition, there may be other expenses associated with the visa application, such as costs for medical examinations, police checks and the translation of documents into English (if required or applicable).
